A Bowlful Of Chile Surf dvd
The Best Surfers In The World. A Wave None Have Ever Surfed Before. A Chilean Slab Fiesta! From the producers of A Fistful of Barrels comes a new video featuring an entirely new wave.
The small town of Arica, Chile hosts the ASP World Tour's Top 44 at Ex Isla Alacrans during the Rip Curl Pro Search Chile. Following hot on the heels of last year's epic sessions at the Mexican pointbreak known only as La Jolla, The Search extends its one-of-a-kind Floating License to South America, where the world's best face-off with one of the most challenging waves to ever host a World Tour event. What started out as a question mark became one of the greatest slab duels ever held, complete with heat-ending injuries and the spectacle of the world's best dry-docked on the shallow Chilean reef, leaving some holding their bandaged heads and others simply shaking theirs at a wave compared to both Pipeline and Teahupo'o for it's ferocity. Defending champ Andy Irons swapped last year's Mexican sombrero for a Chilean Alpaca when he sealed his second Rip Curl Pro Search victory, defeating Damien Hobgood in the finals. A Bowlful of Chile serves up a heaping portion of thick lips and nasty pits as the Top 44 not only survive, but rip their way through two weeks of freesurf and contest heats in a flurry of barrels and bandages.
A Broke Down Melody DVD

The title track is written & performed by Moonshiner Jack Johnson, who also showcases his surfing skills. A Brokedown Melody takes a step back from the informative approach and allows the viewer to experience surfing in a different context. In a more traditional surf film format, A Brokedown Melody allows the visuals of the latest surfing combined with music, images and select commentary to tell the story of a surfer's journey. Featured is the surfing of Kelly Slater, Tom Curren, Gerry Lopez, the Malloys, Rob Machado, CJ Hobgood, Jack Johnson and others. These surfers take us on their travels to Jamaica, Indonesia, Tahiti, Hawaii, Mexico and South America. Finally, in this age of big wave surf exploration, this film reveals Kelly Slater and the Malloys pioneering two new waves never before seen."
A Fistful of Barrels
Contrary to most of the events on the pro circuit, the Rip Curl Pro Search WCT hold what is officially called an ASP Floating License , which means that it can set up wherever they want, depending on where the best waves are.
In 2006, Rip Curl had chosen Central America and the Mexican coast to host a stage of Fosters ASP circuit for the first time. The 4th stage of the Dream Tour took place between June 20th and July 1st 2006, in Puerto Escondido region. The site offered on the longest and the most tubular waves of the season.
These spots represent the spirit of the Search perfectly, the philosophy of the Rip Curl brand blending the world class performances of the worlds 44 best surfers and one exceptional surf trip. Two years ago, Rip Curl was in St Leu (Reunion Island). In 2006, it was Mexicos turn to show off its perfect waves.
A Fly in the Champagne DVD
After a decade of bitter rival status, Kelly Slater and Andy Irons come together to surf off their differences !
To get two seemingly mortal enemies to agree to sequester themselves on a tiny island with a half dozen camera men, a Hollywood interviewer capable of conjuring up tears during any interview, and an in-the-know magazine staff waiting with bated breath seemed like a ridiculous notion. The end result was a ten day purge of feelings, emotional baggage, dispelling rumors, talking it out, and a burying of the hatchet once and for all. Oh, and we forgot to mention that the waves were insane ! Check out the documentary of two of the best surfers and biggest rivals of our sport battle it out in an epic boat trip in Indonesia.

The film is beautiful flowing surf move showcasing some of the most sizzling surfing showcased in a surf movie in 2006
The piece in Western Australia in a remote right hand wave is unbelievably perfect six to eight feet amazing, Jay Phillips, Jay Davies and Dean Harrington thread some of the best barrels ever caught on 16mm film and tape in Western Australia.
Taj Burrow, Jay Phillips and Kirby Brown take you on a little journey through Bali with adding in a few comments of wisdom but overall simply surf all over the playful Balinese waves making every viewer wish you could be on their surf trip.

Taj Burrow may come from Yallingup Western Australia, but his understudy Jay Davies is only nineteen years old and features strongly in the movie and shows why people are calling his talent range one the best to come out of Western Australia in the last three years, which is suprising considering Yadin Nicol and Ry Craike are two of the most popular surfers in the world also coming from Western Australia.
Dean Morrison steals the show with commitment and flow the perfect balance that any surfer can possess his carves have speed to burn and his backhand display of surfing ridiculous.
Ozzie Wright is a classic performer throwing in some of his newly developed musical talents straight out from his ever hot ban THE GOONS OF DOOM. His surfing on a beautiful fat fishy board making it flow and glide through the air like Supermans capes does.

Yadin Nicol is another surfer who makes the viewer watch his display of surfing and think where can go surfing from here his overall talent is showcased in the film and its easy to see why he is Hurley Internationals main global focus.
Archy: Built For Speed DVD
When Matt Archbold started surfing back in 1979 at age 11 the world had no idea that it was about to witness one of the most explosive surfers to ever set foot on a surfboard. With a career spanning nearly 3 decades now, Archy is considered to be the most successful free surfer of all time and one of the originators of high performance surfing.
As Martin Potter was setting the stage globally for high performance surfing in the early 80's, a young crew out of San Clemente led by Archy was about to blow the roof off of surfing.
From dropping out of high school as a freshman at 15 and turning pro, to becoming the poster child of surf clothing giant MCD, Archy's young life was no dull moment. After he struggled with competitive surfing for the next 5 years, and having some success winning a handful of Bud Tour events, Archy quickly learns pro surfing's 3 turns to the beach format isn't for him. He then decides to set out on a fairly new frontier, "free surfing" getting paid to simply go out and get photo's, something that had not been done up until then. In his early 20's, his name became synonymous with the legendary surf spot known as "Off The Wall" all the while riding shorter boards in bigger surf something that most had never done or dreamed of doing. Archy's Ariel attack in the water and explosive surfing revolutionized what we view as high performance surfing today.
"ARCHY" is a timeless film that tells the story of 3 very different generations in surfing. Spanning the 80's, 90's, 2000 and on, Archy's amazing story is one of survival thru surf stardom at an early age, fame, drugs, alcohol, sponsorships and the surf rock star lifestyle. Light will finally be shed on the true-life story of one of the most charismatic and legendary surfers in history.
Compelling interviews, explosive surf action, timeless photos matched with Narration by Henry Rollins from the legendary band Black Flag and set to an all time soundtrack including The Clash, Social Distortion, David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Devo, and many others, ARCHY is sure to effect audiences of all walks of life worldwide. This is a story that needs to be told.

Between The Lines
If you lived along the coast during the Vietnam war and you didn’t want to get drafted, there was one possible way out:
Surfing.
More specifically, you had to surf a lot. And you had to knee paddle on a longboard. Because prolonged knee-paddling causes surfers to get golf ball-sized bumps on their feet, (caused by constant friction with the board). And, during the war, the military determined that those bumps made it impossible to wear tight-fitting boots.
So some longboarders were elated to discover that their hobby made them ineligible for the draft.
But even in Vietnam, some surfing soldiers found ways to get The Stoke.
The movie “Between the Lines” (released theatrically in 2008, now out on DVD) offers an interesting look at surfing during the Vietnam era. The movie follows two surfers with vastly different experiences during that time. One, Pat Farley, volunteered for the Army and saw heavy combat action. Another, Brant Page, was a draft dodger who didn’t agree with the war.
While Farley tells about running away from the Viet Cong, Page talks about running from the FBI. In between, the film chronicles surfing in Vietnam — something soldiers were able to do thanks to beach-side retreats the military created to give troops R&R in between fighting.
Included are some nice archival photos and film of the two main subjects, spliced in between dramatic combat images. Other surfing soldiers and draft evaders are also interviewed.
The most alarming part of the movie occurs when Farley talks about how easy it was — even fun, he adds — to shoot men, women and children. The only moment he felt remorse, he added — choking back tears – was when he had to kill a sick dog.
There’s probably a lot more to Farley’s psychological state than that — and you can imagine the grief he got over his candor – but it gives you an idea of how disturbing war can be.
Fittingly, the movie is narrated by John Milius, the screenwriter/war buff (not to mention an inspiration for the Walter character in “The Big Lebowski”), who gave us the famous surfing scene in “Apocalypse Now.” That scene, he has said, was inspired by guys like Farley.
Despite their different experiences, Farley holds no grudges against Page. In fact, a nice scene in the movie shows them surfing together in New Zealand. However, the film could have expanded on their meeting. And there are too many questions left unanswered about the impact the war had on Farley.
Most of the surfers interviewed — including the Vietnam vets — eventually opposed the war. But we never learn what Farley’s final thoughts were about the conflict. Also, surely there would be some surfing veterans who didn’t agree with Page’s decision to evade the draft, but we don’t hear from them. So the film has contrast but no real conflict. (The fact that one of the film makers is Page’s son no doubt contributes to that gentle handling.)

Billabong Odyssey Surf dvd
In addition to boasting one of the most astonishing opening sequences in the history of extreme-sports filmmaking, Billabong Odyssey offers a breathtaking survey of big-wave surfing at a pivotal stage in its evolution.
With the advent of Jet-Ski Waverunners used for "tow-in" access to gigantic waves that paddle-surfers could never reach, this three-year, globe-trotting quest for the world's biggest waves is nothing less than spectacular. As documentaries go it's a bit cruder than 2003's other surfing movie, Step Into Liquid, and many of the same world-class surfers appear in both films (including 49-year-old Ken Bradshaw, still going strong). But Billabong is unrivaled in its abundance of jaw-dropping footage--most of it shot from helicopters hovering in close proximity--showing the sheer, terrifying scale of breaking "tubes"--some reaching 100 feet--at the most challenging big-wave locations on the planet, including Maverick's at Santa Cruz, California; Cortes Bank off the Pacific Coast; "Cyclops" in Australia; Mundaka, Spain; and the treacherous "Jaws" reef on the coast of Maui, Hawaii.
While touching on various hot topics such as safety training, serious wipe-outs, swell-tracking technology, female surfers (like the great Layne Beachley), and hydrofoil surfboards (billed as "the future of the sport"), director Philip Boston applies a casual, competitive structure that's too diffuse and lightweight to have much impact. But when the film focuses on the climactic "Jaws" showdown between Carlos Burle and Mike Parsons, Billabong Odyssey achieves a state of raw power and spiritual intensity, culminating in Parsons' best-ever 10-point ride on a massive tube that constantly threatens to consume him. As dozens of adrenaline-junkie surfers strive for new horizons of unprecedented skill, Billabong Odyssey chronicles their efforts with amazing bird's-eye cinematography. For surfers and non-surfers alike, this movie must be seen to be believed. --Jeff Shannon
Blackwater
It’s been two years in the making but Tim Bonython’s Teahupoo documentary has finally arrived. Blackwater is the story of Teahupoo, a humble Tahitian village and a coral reef wave made from equal parts beauty and terror.
The wave is undoubtedly one of surfing's most challenging and awe-inspiring waves, as Chris Malloy comments "That wave has changed surfing forever." The movie features fantastic surfing and commentary from a who's who of surfing, people such as Vetea David, Manoa Drollet, Shane Dorian, Kelly Slater, Tom Carroll, Mark Occhilupo, Bruce and Andy Irons, Layne Beachley and the Hobgood brothers to name a few. For the first time you can see and hear it all - the myths, the facts, the history, the stories, the consequences, and most of all, the unforgettable waves.
The music is top notch with artists such as Adam Freeland, Red Whyte, Butterfly Effect, Decoder Ring, Paul Kearney, Katalyst, Pre-Shrunk, Clotaire, Inked Factor, Nora Drenalin, Volatile, Not For You, Switchkicker, Strength in Numbers, Erther and Live, Love, Regret.
Blackwater contains loads of never-before-seen footage from over 25 of the world's best cameramen, exclusive interviews with over 50 great surfers, and just one BIG star - a surf location that's nothing short of unbelievable. This is a must-see DVD."

Bra Boys DVD
“Bra Boys” is a film about the cultural evolution of the inner-Sydney beachside suburb of Maroubra and the social struggle of its youth , the tattooed and much maligned surf community known as the Bra Boys. The story is narrated by Australian actor Russell Crowe and is told through the eyes of members of the Bra Boys.
It is the first full-length film project being undertaken by, and officially sanctioned by, the Bra Boys. It is their story. It shows their success in professional big wave surfing, it explores their international reputation for hard partying and rough justice, it touches on their running battle with authorities and it shows their absolute reliance on one another to fit into a society in which they are displaced and , at times, disinterested. It shows how the evolution of Maroubra, coupled with the historical stigma associated with Australia's rebellious surf community, has contributed to their social displacement.
Central to the story is the true-life struggle of the Abberton brothers Sunny, Koby, Jai and Dakota...one charged with murdering a Sydney standover man, another pursuing a professional surf career, but charged as an accessory in his brother's legal fight, another trying to hold the family together and a young brother whose inheritance is his siblings notoriety.
"Bra Boys" uses archival footage shot and blends it with current surf vision and interviews to create a story that is comassionate and confronting. It is a story of contrast involving against-the-odds success and predictable failures and, ultimately, a story exploring the legacy and hopes of the next generation of Bra Boys members.
